The Irish Raiders have completed the preliminary rounds not only undefeated but also without allowing a goal against over the three games. The Irish played the Chinese Mayhem this afternoon at Weston Arena. Kate Hishon and Mel Rothon both lead the Irish women with three points each while Tammy Hipditch recorded her third shut out of the tournament. The Chinese played well, but not enough to beat the poweful Raiders.

A Fin/Russian Classic

Sunday, 28 December 2008
It is a rivalry that continues even as Canadians. The Russian Kremlins and the Finnish Sisu faced off against each other in game 2 of the Heritage Bowl Championship this afternoon at Weston Arena. As usual when these two meet, the game is fast and exciting. The Finnish Sisu opened the scoring in the first minute when Stan Theodorakopoulos found the back of the net. The Russians tied the game seconds later. The Fins managed to get a four goal lead but had to hold on as the Russian mounted a comeback but fortunately for the Sisu, time ran out for the Russians. Final score: Finnish Sisu 6, Russian Kremlins 5.

Firebirds dash hopes of Vipers
Written by admin
Sunday, 28 December 2008
Despite the three goals from South Asian Vipers forward Dave Paragine, the South Asians hopes of advancing to the playoff rounds are slim after a 5-4 loss to the First Nation Firebirds on the second day of the prelimaries. The Firebirds goal scoring was well balanced but Conway Wemigwans assisted on four of the five goals to lead the Firebirds to their first victory in the tournament.
